Originally known as the "Atlanta Wireless Club," the Atlanta Radio Club, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2011, is one of the oldest and largest amateur radio clubs in the United States. With nearly 200 members, the Club sponsors numerous activities and services for its membership and for the Atlanta area amateur radio community.
The Club is best known for its sponsorship of the annual Atlanta HamFest, a yearly event which hosts many vendors, exhibitors, and flea marketers of amateur radio equipment and other electronic equipment, including computers. THE ATLANTA HAM - The monthly newsletter which features monthly columns, club news, and member contributions. The HAM was cited in recent years as one of the finest publications of its type in the United States. To contribute articles or any newsworthy items, contact John Talipsky, KI4Y.
Repeaters - The Atlanta Radio Club operates five repeaters on two sites on the 144, 222, and 440 bands. The Club's flagship repeaters, 146.82(-), 224.34 (-), and 444.825(+), are located atop the Bank of America building in Atlanta, the world's thirtieth tallest building. While anyone may use our repeaters, membership is encouraged to support our world-class repeater system. Everyone is welcome to participate in our weekly Sunday night net at 8PM on our three repeaters. We also have a group on LinkedIn , which is a professional networking site. LinkedIn members can join it to connect with fellow Atlanta Hams. |
